Lincoln Navigator brake job turned into a whole saga, anyone know a shop that actually stocks the sensors
My brother’s Navigator started making this faint grinding noise last week and since I’m the designated “car guy” in the family I got roped into helping him figure it out and honestly I was hoping it was just a pebble stuck in the dust shield but nope the inner pad on the driver’s side is basically gone and the wear sensor is chewed up which is just perfect because apparently Lincoln decided to use a proprietary connector that nobody in Al Quoz seems to have in stock on a Thursday afternoon, I spent two hours calling around and half the places I rang either said they’d need to order it from the dealer which means waiting until Sunday or they tried to tell me I should just bypass the sensor and wire it shut which I’m not exactly comfortable doing on a vehicle that weighs three tons and carries my niece and nephew around. While I was deep in a Google rabbit hole trying to find somewhere that specializes in American trucks without the dealership premium I kept seeing ads for Range Rover brake system replacement experts which is absolutely not what I needed but it got me thinking maybe there’s a similar niche place for Lincolns that I just don’t know about, anyway I eventually found a listing for a shop that supposedly handles these big SUVs so fingers crossed they actually pick up the phone in the morning and don’t give me the runaround about the electronic parking brake needing a special scan tool that only exists in a parallel universe.
