Jacob & Co Introduces Astronomia Solar Bitcoin Watch

Jacob & Co has entered the world of cryptocurrencies with the launch of the new Astronomia Solar Bitcoin Watch – a highly complicated timepiece that marks the intersection of the historic world of horology and the pioneering crypto era.
The latest addition to the watchmaker’s highly sought-after Astronomica collection, the Astronomia Solar Bitcoin has been designed with adaptability in mind and uses a modified version of its classic movement, housed in a 44mm titanium case. Treated with a diamond-like treatment that encases the metal in a layer of crystalline carbon atoms, this case is as black as coal and as hard as diamond.
In true Jacob & Co fashion, this watch boasts a wealth of complications, with no fewer than 444 elements in total. Spanning two rotating platforms, the illustrative timepiece is adorned with artistic references to cryptocurrencies and their transition from financial outlier to mainstream payment method.
Symbols include the bitcoin currency logo, yellow sapphire sun, diamond moon, golden globe and miniature rocket ship, all of which sit alongside a beautifully decorated one-minute flying tourbillon.
These elements are all built on the three arms of the second platform and surrounded by keywords of the Bitcoin world. Below the upper platform is a rotating motherboard designed with a bonded integrated circuit microchip.
The top platform completes one revolution around the center of the watch every 10 minutes, while pushing the movement’s background counterclockwise every 11 minutes. Not content with this level of animation, the watch’s mainplate also rotates on its own every 11 minutes.
