ParticipantKinda venting a little but also genuinely trying to figure out what’s going on here so bear with me. we’ve got a Discovery, seven seater, and the front rows are perfectly fine, ice cold, no complaints from me or my wife sitting up front. but the second and third row vents have basically stopped putting out anything cold at all, just kind of lukewarm air even when everything’s set to the coldest setting possible. this obviously matters a lot more than it might sound bc we’ve got three kids who sit back there and they will absolutely let us know about it the second they start getting uncomfortable on any drive longer than like ten minutes lol. at first I thought maybe it was just the rear vents needing to be manually adjusted or opened more, checked all of that, everything’s positioned correctly and nothing’s physically blocked as far as I can tell. my brother thinks it might be something with the rear blower or possibly a separate rear climate control unit not communicating properly with the front system anymore, since I guess a lot of these bigger SUVs have kind of a secondary AC setup specifically for the back rows rather than just one shared system pushing air the whole length of the cabin. did some searching last night trying to understand this better since I genuinely didn’t even realize these cars had a semi separate rear AC system until my brother mentioned it, and ended up finding This Sharjah based Land Rover AC specialist that had a whole explanation about dual zone and rear climate setups specifically for Discovery models, mentioning that this exact front works fine but rear doesn’t pattern usually points toward either a failed rear blower motor or sometimes a rear compressor circuit issue depending on how the specific model is configured, which actually made a lot of sense reading through it since our front system clearly still works perfectly on its own. still haven’t booked anything yet since I wanted to actually understand what I might be dealing with before just showing up and hoping for the best, but with summer break coming up and a bunch of longer family trips already planned, this is definitely jumping up the priority list fast bc I really do not want three cranky uncomfortable kids in the back seat for hours at a time. anyone else dealt with this specific front fine, rear not cooling issue on a bigger SUV like this, curious if it ended up being the blower motor like my brother suspects or something else that wouldn’t have crossed my mind without actually having it looked at properly.
